The Leavenworth Bass Club 2010 Season

Posted by admin on November 23, 2010

The last regular tournament was held on Truman Lake on Sept.12. Twenty members of the club tested their skills on a day when water and weather conditions were not the best for bass fishing. Club members weighed in 55 pounds of bass with only four fishermen weighed more than one bass.

The top positions in the tournament were Larry Stoafer in first with 9.8 pounds, Randy Kenton in second with 6.33 pounds, Dave Clevenger in third with 5.02 pounds and Bob Jorgensen in fourth with 4.7 pounds. Jorgensen’s fish was the Big Bass of the tournament. Travis Perret had the Non-boater Big Bass, which weighed in at 3.44 pounds.

The top four Leavenworth Bass Club fishermen in the 2010 season were determined based on each members’ best eight scores from the 11 tournaments. Jorgensen won top honors, with Bob Greene in second, Stoafer in third and Kenton in fourth. The top fisherman for the season is formally recognized at the club’s annual banquet held in January.

On Oct. 2-3, the Leavenworth Bass Club held its traditional end of season tournament, called the Classic. Club members must take part in a minimum number of club tournaments in order to qualify for the Classic. Of the club members who qualified, the top fisherman is paired with the lowest ranked qualifier, the second place finisher is paired with the second lowest ranked qualifier and so on to form teams of two. The combined weight for the two fishermen then determines places for the Classic. Bob Jorgensen and John Carrol took first place at the 2010 Classic, Randy Kenton and Mark Luna took second and Larry Stoafer paired with Mark Justice for third.
The club elected its 2011 officers at its Oct. 4 meeting. Randy Kenton was selected as president and Dan Senterfitt was elected vice president. Larry Stoafer will be the secretary, Ken Hackworth will be treasurer and Bob Greene will be tournament director. Bill Horvath was elected youth coordinator, Ray Hillebrand was elected webmaster, and Ray Cates and Bill Frederick were selected members at large.

The newly elected officers will look to continue the Leavenworth Bass Club’s tradition of providing quality fishing events for club members, conducting fishing-related events for youth in the community and bringing in new members to share in the sport of fishing. Additional information on the bass club can be found at www.theleavenworthbassclub.org. Potential members are invited to attend monthly meetings, which are held at 7 p.m. the first Monday of each month except January.
